    Bernardus Calcanius
    Double Bass

Here is a real gem of an Italian soloist’s instrument. Made by Bernardus Calcanius (Bernardo Calcagni) in about 1750, it has a real quality sound and great playability. Lots of warmth and strength in the low register as well as the highs. It would well suit a Chamber Orchestra, Chamber musician, or soloist. Calcanius was the greatest of the Genoese makers and his violins are highly prised as well as are his lower instruments. Made in the traditional Pear shape, It is very manageable, light, and easy to transport.
