This beautiful double bass is an excellent example of Cremonese workmanship dating from around 1720, right at the end of Hieronymus II’s time as a great instrument maker.
The dendro chronology to go with the instruments puts it firmly in the Cremona area of Italy. The wood used for the front of the bass matches instruments by Strad, Guarneri del Jesu, Guarneri and Guadagnini – not bad company to be in!
This bass is offered in good condition and has the huge sound as you would expect from this class of instrument.
