Double Bass Bows

In many ways the bow is more important than the instrument. So say many leading teachers and quite rightly. There is a real need for an affordable bow that has all the great properties of the old masters.

Working closely with a leading bow maker we have introduced the “Claude Marchand” bow. They are available in both French style (modelled on Vigneron and Sartory) and German model (inspired by the old H.R. Pfretchner). Only the finest pernambuco wood and silver mountings are used. Balance and playability are the first consideration. They are priced to suit any budget but many are used by top professional players.

Master bows

Thomas Martin is a good place to find your perfect bow, with many fine examples passing through the workshop. This year we have handled examples of E. Sartory, A. Vigneron, Victor Fetique, Laberte (Tourte), A. Richaume, Louis Morizot - pere, Emile Ouchard and others.
